FURTHER INFORMATION: PunctureGUARD, the "Ultimate" in Puncture Sealant Systems, has been developed over a five year period - and will continue to be developed - to better meet the needs of an increasingly set of customers. As available tyre sealants appear to have reached the limits of their capabilities, which was not all that the market wanted, there was a need for a versatile and effective product to match the range of uses that vehicles, and particularly their tyres, were being put to. Developed exclusively in the UK, PunctureGUARD is an aqueous glycol based solution containing, among other things, specially treated particles, rust inhibitors, preservatives and gums all held in suspension. It has many advantages, from an environmental point of view, being non-toxic, non-flammable, non-hazardous, bio-degradable, COSHH-friendly (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) and contains no CFC's or other harmful substances such as asbestos. It can be transported and handled without any special requirements since it can be washed easily from clothing with water and does not have any deleterious effects on tyre rubber, car wheels, including alloy types, paint-work or even skin. It certainly does not have any of the messy consequences that the latex formulations have caused like gumming up a tyre. In fact, PGUARD can easily be washed from a tyre should this prove necessary. PunctureGUARD is an innovative tyre puncture sealant that provides a permanent seal in practically every case in tubeless tyres. It was first developed for the off-road commercial market, for example, in construction vehicles, earth moving and plant, fork lifts, agricultural machinery and so forth, all of which are used in harsh ground environments including abrasive and sharp objects that would otherwise cause a steady stream of punctures. So, the move towards a wider market had instant appeal where cars, for example, are used on rough or hazardous terrain. As PunctureGUARD has been refined and made suitable for all types of vehicles it has become available to meet the needs of all market sectors where vehicles are used; commercial, industrial, agricultural, sporting and domestic. Most benefit is accrued from using PunctureGUARD in the pre-emptive mode, that is to say, by installing it before punctures occur. It is easily applied through the valve of a tyre using a hand pump. As the wheels turn during normal driving, PGUARD coats the inner tread area of the tyre which is possible not because it contains any adhesives, but because of the unique combination of ingredients in their highly viscose liquid/paste state that spread evenly over the area. This even coating, brought about by the wheels rotating and the resultant centrifugal forces coming into play, combined with the pressure in the tyres means that when an object causes a puncture through the tread of the tyre. PunctureGUARD is forced into the hole and solidifies immediately to effect a seal. As the vehicle continues its motion this ensures an airtight seal is completed almost instantaneously. PunctureGUARD can fill a hole caused by puncturing objects up to 9mm in diameter, but it has sealed holes upto 15mm. Each tyre may sustain multiple punctures, before the tyre is either changed or additional PGUARD is required to enjoy continued flat free driving. At the microscopic level, PunctureGUARD, through its complex formulation holding the sealing particles in suspension, reacts instantly to a puncture by interlocking the particles to effect a seal as it is forced into the hole. A small amount of sealant will penetrate through to the outer tread. This may be more easily seen in a demonstration situation when the tyre is not spinning as it normally would. The tyre itself is permanently sealed and the result plug will be totally impervious to water. This will protect the belt and inner casing from corrosion and contamination, and this important consideration is further aided by the inclusion of rust inhibitors in the PunctureGUARD formulation. Once it has been installed through the tyre valve the vehicle must be driven at no more than 40mph/65kph for a minimum of 5 miles, this will ensure correct distribution around the interior tread area of the tyre.
